From the day Peter and his partner Li took over The Gardeners Call in the High Town area of Luton in February 2008, it was clear they had their work cut out. The pub was clearly on its last legs having been neglected for a number of years.

Since then, the pub has gone from strength to strength, introducing numerous teams that play out of the pub, currently there are 2 pool teams, a darts team and Sunday football team.

Having installed a full Sky Sports package into the pub, the pub can now show several sports/games simultaneously on different screens.

They also introduced more real ale to the pub and this has proved very popular, so much so they were accepted into the 2012 CAMRA real ale guide and are Cask Marque accredited.

The pub was also recognised as the Herald & Posts "Pub Of The Year" in 2010.

The pub is known for its charity work to, hosting several music nights for charities such as Help For Heroes, Clic Sargent and The Karen Trust and locally for the Keech Hospice.

Now under new ownership as of 2nd June 2014 having been sold by Greene King, the pub is now a bona fide "freehouse" and is already introducing more variety with it's beers and more is planned for 2015!

All in all, the pub is a friendly relaxed place to enjoy a drink and watch some live sport, come along and see for yourself!!

With effect from Wednesday 20th January 2016, Peter & Li will no longer be in charge of The Gardeners Call, ownership has been transferred back to Hawthorn Leisure who have appointed Ray Dean as Pub Manager.

Peter & Li would like to thank everyone for their custom and more importantly their friendship over the past 8 years.
